There might also be additional superstitions, depending on the area. For instance, in Montenegro, the brides were required to step over a carpet that had been covered in knives because this was supposed to guarantee that they would have boys. Additionally, it was typical for the wife in Kosovo to bite mister from her mother-in-law’s finger. This was intended to keep the two’s associations calm and to guarantee their happiness and success.

There would be a lot of dancers and wild joy following the civil and religious festival. People enjoyed drinking rakia to savor the happiness of marriage.
